Most Ridiculous Quote Of The Week?

I thought no-one could beat Mitt Romney’s explanation for why none of his sons are serving in Iraq:

“My sons are all adults and they’ve made decisions about their careers and they’ve chosen not to serve in the military and active duty and I respect their decision in that regard.”

If he stopped there, all would be well. But he didn’t:

He added: “One of the ways my sons are showing support for our nation is helping me get elected because they think I’d be a great president.”

Kids, do you know the meaning of pompous wind bag?

So it looked like Romney had it. Then New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin found a silver lining to his city’s high number of homicides:

Responding to a TV reporter’s question about whether New Orleans’ murder rate hurts the city’s tourism economy, Mayor Ray Nagin on Thursday called the phenomenon a “two-edged sword.”

“Do I worry about it? Somewhat. It’s not good for us, but it also keeps the New Orleans brand out there, and it keeps people thinking about our needs and what we need to bring this community back. So it is kind of a two-edged sword. Sure it hurts, but we have to keep working everyday to make the city better.”

Wow. With leaders like that, who needs hurricanes?

I’ll see your Ray Nagin and raise you a Philadelphia columnist Stu Bykofsky:

“To save America, we need another 9/11.”
