What’s The Best Way To Fix Our Failing Education System?

Surely you said we should do something like this:

Eunice High School student De’Ondrick Veal was asked to leave school before he even stepped in his first class Thursday.

The 17-year-old is one of 13 male students told to leave school because of their hair. The students wear twists, a popular style typically worn by black men and women.

And get a load of the bureaucratic buck passing behind the suspensions:

The school’s move drew criticism from the St. Landry Parish School Board and the public. Some have said the students are victims of the uneven application of policies that may exist at one school and not another.

Board members said the issue is that policies vary among schools and are enforced at each principal’s discretion.

The board asked for a consistent policy in February, but has yet to receive one. Superintendent Michael Nassif said an appeal will take place shortly after 8 a.m. today at the school.

Here’s a great idea for a consistent policy: The student’s hair is none of the school’s damn business.
