Newt Gingrich Is Complete F**king Idiot

Ed Brayton posts a video in which Newt Gingrich urges California voters to pass the referendum banning gay marriage. Because, you know, it’s the gays who are going to destroy marriage. Not, as Brayton reminds us, upstanding men like Newt Gingrich:

Newt Gingrich. The man who cheated on his first wife, then divorced her while she was in the hospital recovering from uterine cancer surgery — then refused to pay child support and alimony. A local church actually had to take up a collection to support his wife and children. The man who six months later married his second wife, then cheated on her with a congressional aide — who he subsequently made his third wife. Newt Gingrich, for crying out loud, is talking about the need to “defend and protect marriage.” Newt, if you want to protect marriage, stop getting married. At the very last, stop cheating on every wife you have.

Hear, hear! If you can’t handle your own damn business, you sure as hell ought to stay out of everyone else’s.

Pardon my French here, but this one hits too close to home. A close relative who is gay, and who is about to get married, has recently had to endure several other peoples’ “concerned” letters and speeches attacking her and her decision. As with ‘ol Newt, none of those folks are models of marital success. A person with one successful marriage who wants to lecture gay couples about same sex marriage? That person would still be wrong, and is probably being nosy and rude, but I can accept that. But a person who has been divorced? Or cheated on their spouse? Or never married at all, just having several kids with several partners? Give me a break. That just makes me want to spit.
